Brian Brivati had a twenty-year academic career at the Institute of Contemporary British History and Kingston University, where he was Professor of Contemporary History, Human Rights and Life Writing. He subsequently led human-rights organisations and has advised civic and political leaders, social enterprises and organisations working in conflict and post-conflict settings.
He has written or edited more than a dozen books and has published widely in the Guardian, Times, Financial Times, Observer, New Statesman, History Today and other publications. His work brings historical analysis into direct conversation with contemporary questions of political violence, memory, responsibility and international law.
The Waiting Room
The Waiting Room is a work of political theatre examining the Holocaust, the Nakba, occupation, displacement and the destruction of Gaza through the problem of witnessing: who controls the narrative, who is permitted to speak, and how responsibility is obscured.
